3M™ 2552 Sound Damping Aluminium Foil Tape

The 3M™ 2552 Sound Damping Aluminium Foil Tape is a pressure sensitive tape which uses 3M™ Viscoelastic Damping Polymers technology to line a dead soft aluminium foil in order to dampen noise and vibrations. This combination of components and 3M™ technology allows the 2552 Foil Tape to withstand low temperatures ranging from as cold as -32°C all the way up to 80°C making it must have for industrial environments.

Some of the most appealing properties of the 3M™ Damping Foil 2552, alongside the ability to handle temperature extremes, are meeting the requirements of flame-retardant properties required by F.A.R. Part 25.853(a) and passing the ASTM E-162 and ASTM E-662 for flammability and possible smoke generation. This safe and durable tape also ages well, creating a stronger and more permanent bond in the polymers with time.

When this 3M™ Damping Tape is laminated tightly between two material it has the capability to resist occasional exposure to alkalies, oils, gasoline, JP-4 fuel, milk acids, hydraulic fluids, and other typical solvents. It should be noted that prolonged exposure or submersion in chemicals such as fuels or solvents is not recommended.

Some of the most common uses for this 3M™ Sound Damping Aluminium Tape are industrial and electrical applications that include equipment and appliances, reducing noises and vibration in metals and plastics, as well as support structures.
