The 3M Damping Foil Tape 2552 is constructed of a dead soft aluminium foil constraining layer and coated with a pressure sensitive, viscoelastic acrylic polymer adhesive. This unique construction provides the ability to control resonant vibrations in a variety of applications and to withstand low temperatures ranging from -32°C up to 80°C.
3M Damping Foil 2552 meets requirements of flame-retardant properties required by F.A.R. Part 25.853(a) and passes the ASTM E-162 and ASTM E-662 for flammability and possible smoke generation. This safe and durable tape also ages well, creating a stronger and more permanent bond in the polymers with time.
When this tape is laminated tightly between two material it can resist occasional exposure to alkalis, oils, gasoline, JP-4 fuel, milk acids, hydraulic fluids, and other typical solvents. Prolonged exposure or submersion is not recommended.
Common uses for 3M 2552 are industrial and electrical applications including equipment and appliances, reducing noise and vibration in metals, plastics and support structures.
