3M™ Polyurethane Glass Adhesive Sealant 590
The high-strength, 3M™ Polyurethane Glass Adhesive Sealant 590 is the sealant of choice for structurally bonding windscreens, as well as a range of other bonding applications where high-strength is required. With a 25- to 40-minute skin time, and three-hour drive-away time, this is a fast-curing, high viscosity adhesive sealant that’s designed to create a strong but elastic bond. It is highly resistant to tearing and will prevent bonded areas from being affected by vibration fatigue. It also has high water and salt spray resistance.
Its one component design means no mixing required, making the application of this product faster, easier and significantly less messy than for competitor adhesive brands. This polyurethane glass adhesive sealant also promises versatility as it can be used in other contexts requiring a robust adhesion, including to bond substrates such as glass, acrylic and polycarbonate. This adhesive sealant can be applied at temperatures between 5°C - 35°C and is resistant up to -40°C to 90°C, making it operative in even the most challenging of environments. It is also paintable after skin formation.
To ensure the safety of this product, it has been crash tested to the FMVSS 212 standard and has a high rating on the Shore A Hardness Scale.
We recommend that surfaces are clean, dry and clear of grease, mould, oil and other liquids before application of this glass adhesive sealant. The use of a 180 to 220 grit abrasive, followed by a methyl ethyl ketone solvent wipe before application will also increase the effectiveness of this product, as will an appropriate primer, which should be selected for suitability dependent on the substrate being bonded. It is also important to avoid using this product to bond silicone or on surfaces that are frozen or wet.
This product is available in 310ml cartridges of black adhesive.
