4943 3M™ VHB™ Acrylic Foam Tape

A conformable, very high bond acrylic foam tape which has added performance for bonding at low temperatures (above oC). In addition this adhesive composition makes the product well suited to a variety of substrates.

Its improved conformability also allows more complete bond contact area when bonding ridged or irregular materials providing a more uniform seal on irregular surfaces.

4957 3M™ VHB™ Acrylic Foam Tape

4957 is a conformable, very high bond acrylic foam tape which has added performance for bonding at low temperatures (above 0°C). In addition this adhesive composition makes the product well suited to a variety of substrates.

Its improved conformability also allows more complete bond contact area when bonding rigid or irregular materials. 4957's principal advantage is that it provides a more uniform seal on irregular surfaces.

Resistance to solvents, temperature extremes and U.V. light make VHBÔ products suitable for many interior and exterior applications.

4951 3M™ VHB™ Acrylic Foam Tape

45 mil white closed-cell acrylic foam carrier. Can be applied as low as 32 Degrees F. (0 Degrees C.).

Application ideas include mounting panels to aluminum frames in buildings, mounting aluminum panels to truck trailer frames, mounting trim to portable buildings, and conding cellular phone antennas.

At room temperature it has better tack than other 3M™ VHB™ tapes.

Surface Preparation Using 3M Products

To obtain optimum adhesion, the bonding surfaces must be clean, dry and well unified. Typical cleaning solvents are 3M™ VHB Cleaner, a mix of isopropyl alcohol and water or heptane.

Be sure to follow solvent manufacturer's directions for use and precautionary warnings when using solvents (Steps A & B)

Bond strength is dependent upon the degree of adhesive-to-surface contact developed. Firm application pressure helps better adhesive contact and thus improves bond strength (Steps C & D)

After application, the bond strength will increase as the adhesive flows into the surface. At room temperature approximately 50% of the ultimate strength will be achieved after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours. In some cases bond strength can be increased and ultimate bond strength can be achieved more quickly by exposure of the bond to elevated temperatures (eg. 70C for 1 hour).m This provides better adhesive wetout onto the substrates.
